被社会环境造就与造就社会环境——论小说中人物与社会环境关系的特殊形态

小说创作有三个要素：人物、情节、环境。小说中人物与环境的关系通常解释为：＂环境是人物展开交往和活动的具体场所。＂但在以著名历史人物为原型的小说中,人物与环境出现了复杂的情形,环境尤其是社会环境并不只是人物展开交往和活动的场所,还是人物性格形成的重要因素;著名历史人物对社会环境的改变也着极为重要的作用。《斯巴达克思》和《上尉的女儿》就是如此。     

食品安全检测紧缺人才培养模式的实践与探索

互联网对公共文明建设提出新要求,可从认知方式、法律与道德标准、舆论引导与监督三个维度加以考察.网络公共文明建设催生公共生活新规则,我国的网络公共文明尚处于低位发展水平,要加强网络治理能力建设,处理好公共生活中现有的规则与互联网所要求的生活方式之间的关系,培育公民养成在网络生活中做到权利与义务的统一.网络公共文明建设路径的研究趋向,可从人的网上行为、网络公共文明的基础理论、互联网制度（规则）建设、网络公共文明的教育方式和方法等方面展开.     

Estimation of firm-specific technological bias,technical change and total factor productivity growth: a dual approach

This paper deals with modeling firm-specific technical change (TC), and technological biases (inputs and scale) in estimating total factor productivity (TFP) growth. Several dual parametric econometric models are used for this purpose. We examine robustness of TFP growth and TC among competing models. These models include the traditional time trend (TT) model and the general index (GI) model. The TT and the GI models are generalized to accommodate firm-specific TC and technological bias (in inputs and output). Both nested and non-nested tests are used to select the appropriate models. Firm-level panel data from the Japanese chemical industry during 1968- 1987 is used as an application.     

Considering child care and parenting needs in Veterans Affairs mental health services

Child care and parenting needs of adults with mental illness are of growing concern, especially among those seeking Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mental health services. One area of interest concerns the possible benefits that on-site child care could have for improving veterans’ access to VA mental health care. Child care programs are currently being piloted at the VA for the first time, although the need for them has not been evaluated. We conducted a brief survey of a convenience sample of 147 veterans (132 men, 15 women) seeking mental health care at outpatient clinics and/or at a psychiatric rehabilitation center at one VA. Participants were asked about their attitudes and experiences regarding child care and parenting support at the VA. Of the 52 (35.4%) participants who responded and had children under 18, the majority of both men and women surveyed agreed that the VA should offer child care services and that they would use child care services at the VA if it were available. These results are based on a small sample of participants, but they may contribute to ongoing discussion and efforts to develop “family-friendly” mental health services.     

Quality of Life and Well-Being of Single Parent Families:

This discussion brings together the multiple factors that impact single parent families and effect their overall quality of life and well-being. Influential variables were identified and organized at three levels-institutional, interpersonal, and individual. A model was devel- oped that included the most salient determinants of single parent family well-being. These included cultural norms and values, health of family members, social and demographic factors, individual per- sonal characteristics, social support networks, and social institutions such as the law, the economy, the polity (represented in the formation of public policy) and education. Variables associated with the noncus- todial (nonresidential) parent also were identified as affecting the quality of life of single parent family members. In combination these factors help establish, maintain, and change the environment within which single parents raise their families.
